What A Crazy Few Days!

by shiftyjelly

Pocket Weather AU took us about a month worth of development, and was submitted to Apple on the 8th of September. On the 24th of September it was finally approved by apple, and in just a few short days has gone to #1 on the iTunes Australia Store. It’s been a crazy few days, that none of us here were expecting. There’s a few things we’d like to quickly cover though, just to clear things up.

We have had a few people contact us so far saying they have had problems getting Pocket Weather to work, and another 2 have so far left 1 star ratings. Thanks to one of our keen customers, we have uncovered a very strange bug: If you have ever played with your iPhone time settings, and changed from 24 hour to AM/PM time, and then back again, Pocket Weather will not load any data onto your iPhone. The workaround for this is to set your iPhone to 24 hour time, and Pocket Weather will work again. It just goes to show that no matter how much you test something, strange bugs like this still slip through. We will have a fix for this in the next few days either as an application update, or it might even be something we can fix on our server.

I’d just like to point out one other quick thing. A lot of people assume that because we are #1 in the Australian iTunes Store that we are now instant millionaires. It would be nice if we were, but alas we do this for the love, not the money. Truth be told if you add up the amount of hours that we’ve spent so far (about 100 on Pocket Weather, 50 on Pocket Sounds) and the amount that we will spend on future free updates…well let’s just say you’d make more at McDonalds flipping burgers than we ever will.

Finally we’d just like to thank all those who have downloaded our app, and also those who have taken the time to make suggestions on how to improve it. Be assured we read all your emails, and consider each suggestion that we get.
